Acheron’s classic debut "Rites of the Black Mass" returns for its 33rd anniversary in a newly remastered, definitive edition curated by Kenyon Records and High Roller Records. With fresh mastering by Joe Viers and direct input from all original members, this release restores the impact of a cult milestone while adding the 1991 demo, remastered from DAT.
The original album was tracked at Morrisound Studios with Scott Burns presiding over production, marking a pivotal moment in early US death metal. Now, the full story is presented with new liner notes by David E. Gehlke based on recent interviews with the band and producer, as well as reflections from Vincent Crowley.
Multiple formats will be available. The Double LP Vincent Crowley Variant features heavyweight vinyl, marble and splatter pressings, a gatefold jacket, full booklet, and poster, limited to 250 copies. Single LP editions are available in ultra clear or classic black, both limited to 125 copies each, with standard packaging and poster. The deluxe 2×CD comes housed in a slipcase with a 20-page booklet of liner notes and commentary. The Picture Disc LP spotlights the iconic pentagram artwork and is limited to 200 copies. The Double Cassette set exclusively from Kenyon Records offers the album and demo in a slipcover, limited to 100. Worldwide digital distribution includes both the remaster and demo.
Distribution for Europe is managed by High Roller Records, while Kenyon covers North America directly. The American edition sold out in September.
