Vädjan is the new album from Swedish black metal act Hädangången. Rooted in European cultural heritage and Swedish history, the record is viewed through the lens of 18th- and 19th-century nature romanticism. Woven around the haunting cadence of a waltz, the album reflects nature as an eternal movement between life and death, where melancholy and romance remain in constant tension.

Founded by Vindsval of MARA, Hädangången goes deeper into a personal connection with the primitive Scandinavian landscape. The name Hädangången means “passing away,” and that sense of death, desolation, nature, and emotional struggle runs through the album’s atmosphere and themes.

Following the independently released EP Likfärd (2023) and the full-length Tomhet (2024), Vädjan continues Hädangången’s path with a stronger focus on mood, isolation, and the emotional weight of the northern landscape.
