Vienna-based black metal band Ill Tidings return with Seeds of True Rebirth, their third full-length album and the most expansive release in the band’s catalogue so far.
Founded in 2018, Ill Tidings have steadily developed a style that combines melodic black metal with both modern and traditional elements of the genre. Their sound is built around layered guitar work, expressive vocals and driving drums, keeping an unpolished atmosphere at the centre of the band’s identity.
Following the release of their debut Signa Tenebris in 2020 and Hymns to Demise in 2022, the band entered the studio again during the summer of 2024 with the intention of pushing their music further. Seeds of True Rebirth expands both the musical and lyrical scope of Ill Tidings, moving deeper into themes tied to destruction, transformation and the darker corners of human existence.
The album balances aggression and atmosphere across seven tracks, shifting between cold melodic passages, dense riffing and moments that feel almost ritualistic in tone. While earlier releases hinted toward collapse and finality, Seeds of True Rebirth approaches those ideas head-on, presenting what the band describe as “the apocalypse” itself.
Ill Tidings have also built a strong reputation through their live performances, appearing at festivals including Transcending Visions Fest in Graz, De Mortem et Diabolum in Berlin and Cosmic Void Festival in London. Further appearances, including Enter the Eternal Fire Fest 2025 in the Czech Republic, continue to expand the band’s presence beyond Austria.
