The southern German project Ocinn presents “Nebelgeister,” a new album of dark-piano and black-metal atmospheres, released on November 6, 2025.

Ocinn plays black-metal-influenced dark piano music. Formed in 2007 in southern Germany as a solo project, Ocinn released her debut album “l” in 2020. With her fourth full-length album, “Nebelgeister” (2025), she pays homage to her German roots. Inspired by the mist spirits of German mythology, “Nebelgeister” conjures a deeply melancholic and mystical atmosphere. This dedication to her heritage is also underscored by two tracks in German, featuring vocals by her friends John Never and W.K.

The debut “l” creates a unique, hypnotic mood with melancholic, gloomy yet romantic piano pieces that channel the rough, cold aesthetic of black metal into dark piano music.

For her second album, Ocinn drew inspiration from the dark, romantic German woods. “The Forest” captures the melancholy arising in those lost and fantastical surroundings. The digital release of “The Forest” was on February 24, 2022; on the same day, the album appeared as a digipak via the South American label Guts’N’Blood Records. Vinyl became available at ocinn.de in early 2023.

In 2024, Ocinn released her trilogy “Songs from the Past.” All three albums were written and recorded between 2007 and 2017. Inspired by striking natural landscapes, she sought to capture the surrounding atmosphere in each piece. The song titles are all in Ladin—an old language spoken in northern Italy and Ocinn’s second mother tongue—making the trilogy a tribute to her Italian roots.

With her fourth full-length album, “Nebelgeister” (2025), Ocinn again honors her German roots. Drawing on the mist spirits of German mythology, the album evokes a profoundly melancholic and mystical mood. Two tracks in German, featuring vocals by John Never and W.K., further emphasize this connection.

Currently, Ocinn is working on several projects. One is the German black-metal project Druttwald, for which she joined forces with John Never and Golzarath, both known from the German bands Wingrath and Dethroned. Druttwald combines melancholic dark piano with cold, epic black-metal elements, crafting a distinctive sound with a gloomy, romantic atmosphere. The newly formed band will make its debut later this year.

Other projects include splits with black-metal and dungeon-synth acts such as Necrolust, Funeral Requiem, and Urku Llanthu. The split “Prelude to Darkness” with Necrolust is available from Guts’N’Blood Records. “A Misty Journey through Forgotten Chants” with Funeral Requiem was released in March 2022. The split “Sach’a Whispers” with Urku Llanthu has been available since February 2024. All the splits feature previously unreleased Ocinn tracks.

Ocinn has also contributed piano and synthesizer parts to various black-metal and ambient bands, including Necrolust and Egokarma (South America) and Szivilizs (Switzerland). She appears as a guest musician on two In Dornen albums—“Vergänglichkeit” (2022) and “Trauer” (2023). Most recently, she contributed to Nail by Nail’s debut album “Embraced by Darkness” (2025), providing the piano intro and additional synthesizer on the track “The Frozen Tomb.” She also composed an extended version of the intro that is used on stage during Nail by Nail’s live performances.

Ocinn appears on several compilations, including “Rotten Pages” (Rotten Pages Magazine), “There Is a Smell of Something Rotten” (Guts’N’Blood Records), and “Black and Death Compilation” (Inferos Productions). All compilations are available from Guts’N’Blood Records.

She is also part of the art project “Kunst gegen Missbrauch,” for which she composed the official score. Initiated by the artist Nezilla, the project draws attention to child sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. By sending a pacifier as a contribution, you can take part in the collaborative work as well. Visit https://kunstgegenmissbrauch.de for more information.

Ocinn composed the music for the computer game “Fake Attack,” another art project by Nezilla.

Another collaboration with the artist Nessi Nezilla was the score for the film “Hartmannswillerkopf.” In it, the PaperBomb—a sculpture symbolizing peace and friendship—is exhibited at the memorial in Hartmannswillerkopf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in France. In collaboration with Nils Lesser, Ocinn composed the title score. In 2025, a solo-piano version of the soundtrack was released; it now serves as the general theme for the PaperBomb sculpture. The artwork is exhibited at several memorial sites across Europe to highlight the importance—and fragility—of peace and friendship.

Since her debut, Ocinn has appeared at Yana Orqo Metal Fest and Larva Fest, two online festivals in South America.

Musically, her main black-metal inspirations include Emperor, Burzum, Gorgoroth, Beherit, Thyrgrim, Dynfari, Evilfeast, and more. She also draws from classical composers such as Chopin, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Liszt, as well as film composers like Danny Elfman.at source of inspiration for Ocinn.
