GRAU 9 is the solo project of Portuguese guitarist Pedro Ataíde (Sarrufo), active in the underground scene since 1989 through bands such as Pé de Cabra, Trinta & Um and RASGO. In this format, he also takes on vocals, giving voice to lyrics he has continued to write throughout his path in music.

Rooted in extreme metal, GRAU 9 explores themes of time, mortality and human vulnerability. The project's name points to the highest degree of destruction, drawing conceptual inspiration from the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, estimated between 8.5 and 9 in magnitude. That sense of collapse and uncontrollable force remains central to the project's sonic identity and frames the world around "No Vale das Sombras".

The single is his debut and is already available on YouTube. It will be available on all digital platforms from April 22.
