German death metal band APEP originally self-released their debut album "The Invocation of the Deathless One" on January 31st, 2020. The album is now available in digital format, on LP, CD and cassette, with the CD reissue released by Awakening Records on October 31st, 2025. The vinyl edition is available through Urtod Void, while the tape edition was released by Darkness Shall Rise.
"The Invocation of the Deathless One" introduced APEP’s take on death metal: old-school foundations, a more technical edge, and lyrics shaped by ancient Egyptian mythology, Lovecraftian themes and archaic rites. The band’s name comes from the serpent-like demon of ancient Egyptian myth, a figure tied to chaos and darkness.
Formed in 2016 out of the ashes of CARNAGE, APEP set out to build death metal with an ancient atmosphere and a sharper musical approach. The Awakening Records CD reissue brings the album back after its original limited self-release, including a bonus instrumental version of "Anubis’ Denial" and the original cover artwork by Paolo Girardi.
APEP later followed the album with Before Whom Evil Trembles, released in 2024 through War Anthem Records.
