Australian gothic metal band Blackened Rose are releasing their new single, "Love of the Serpentine Eye". Formed at the end of 2022 by vocalist Aleksei Iagunkov, the band combines gothic metal with influences from 80s hard rock, drawing inspiration from artists such as Type O Negative, HIM, Whitesnake, The 69 Eyes and Opeth.
Lyrically, "Love of the Serpentine Eye" explores the deceptive and calculating nature of the snake, with references to apples, poison and devils throughout. The song also incorporates influences from Dio and Black Sabbath, alongside a deep baritone vocal performance and an unrestrained guitar solo.
Since their formation, Blackened Rose have performed across Australia, appearing alongside bands including Temtris, Pyrefly, Snake Bite Whisky, Miruthan, Department of Gloom, Death Chemist (NZ) and T-Rex Autopsy, while working with promoters such as Battlegod Productions, Metal Evilution and Black Roos Entertainment.
