LÁUDANO returned in 2025 with Sintopía, the latest chapter in a career that has now stretched across more than 20 years and five albums.
Led by Alberto Díez, composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist and creator of the project’s entire musical and visual identity, LÁUDANO have built a sound that moves between gothic metal, dark rock, darkwave and neoclassical music. Film score-inspired orchestration sits alongside heavy guitars, piano, keyboards and melancholic Spanish-language lyrics, giving the band a style that is difficult to place inside a single genre.
For Sintopía, the band expanded its line-up with drummer Angel “GUSI”, keyboardist Mónica Camarero and bassist Héctor Hernáez, while also working with a classical quartet featuring clarinet, viola, violin and cello. The result is an album that balances heavier moments with orchestral arrangements and quieter emotional passages.
Rather than focusing on darkness alone, Sintopía centres itself around the idea of inner strength and emotional survival. The band describe the album as “a meeting place where the boundaries between dreams and desires blur”, adding that it represents “that quiet energy that sustains us before we fall and gives us the courage to get back up.”
Across the album, traces of bands such as Lacrimosa, Dead Can Dance, Katatonia, Mantus, Anathema and Héroes del Silencio can be felt, though LÁUDANO continue to shape those influences into something distinctly their own.
Sintopía was recorded by Alberto Díez at IRAESTUDIO, mixed by Tim Lewis at ROCKFIELD Studios in Wales and mastered by Mario Alberni at KADIFORNIA.
