[news] Neofolk Act ELK Releases Dungeon Synth Album VOID, Announces Upcoming TTRPG

The genre-defying act ELK has unveiled their latest release, VOID—a bold departure from their neofolk origins into the atmospheric realm of dungeon synth. The album features nine instrumental tracks, spanning just over 54 minutes, and invites listeners into a frozen, rust-covered world of fantasy and darkness.
VOID tells the story of three unlikely heroes—Ellenia the Elf, Dunbar the Dwarf, and Ibufen the Goblin—as they traverse icy wastelands, confront ancient beasts, and uncover forgotten secrets. The music blends droning brass, haunting horns, melodic tubular bells, and sparse piano that falls like icy rain. Guitars make only a rare appearance, featured on a single track.
Each digital download of VOID includes a story booklet meant to be read alongside the music, enhancing the immersive experience. For those who prefer to focus purely on the sound, the album stands on its own as a hypnotic and cinematic listening journey.
Also included is a second booklet titled The Elk Bible, offering deeper lore, world-building, and original artwork that expand the world of Stave, where the story takes place.
VOID is available now for digital download on Bandcamp, and can be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and most major music platforms.
In addition, ELK is announcing ELK: THE TTRPG, a tabletop role-playing game set in the same universe. The game is currently in development and is scheduled for release in summer 2025.

Lord Villrein: "It was an incredibly rewarding experience writing and recording a synth lead instrumental album. And I am very excited for the release of the TTRPG. Looking forward to really bringing this world to life!"
