[news] Pagan black metallers RAMCHAT release new single “Otčina”

Slovak pagan black metal band Ramchat have unveiled their new single “Otčina” on the respected YouTube channel Atmospheric Black Metal Albums, where the track received its official world premiere.

“We wanted to reach new listeners, so we decided to partner with an external platform for the release,” explains frontman Hirax, the song’s composer and lyricist. “That channel has over 125,000 subscribers and a strong black metal audience. Our new track blends atmospheric and alternative black metal, so it made sense to premiere it there.”

The vocals on Otčina were performed by Walki, with guest contributions from Katarína and Ďurikes.

“Yes, there are more clean vocals than usual for Ramchat,” Hirax notes, “but since the lyrics are a tribute to our beautiful Slovakia, it felt right to bring them back. We also included folk elements — but carefully. We didn’t want to drift into folk metal. There’s a violin passage in the middle and, at the beginning, I played a short solo on the Persian dulcimer. Beyond that, it’s all driven by our core metal lineup — no other folk instruments.”

Ramchat are currently putting the final touches on their new album, set for release this fall. As a result, the band will only appear at a handful of summer festivals this year.
