Norwegian metal band Dreamslain are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their first EP, "Tales Of War", originally released on November 11th, 2016 through Under The Bridge Music. The release is available digitally and on CD.
Running for 37 minutes, "Tales Of War" already showed several sides of the sound Dreamslain would continue to develop on later releases. The record leans more heavily into traditional heavy metal, while "Question" and "The Forgotten Ones" bring in progressive influences and "Break Down The Walls" and "Raw War" introduce more extreme metal elements.
The EP also contains "Return", which the band describe as their first "weird song", opening with a country intro before moving into an off-beat riff.
Lyrically, "Tales Of War" deals with the horrors of war, the courage required to oppose it when political currents move in the opposite direction, and the distance between those who start or profit from wars and those who are actually sent to fight them.
To celebrate the anniversary, Dreamslain have released a new music video for "Break Down The Walls", the first single in the band's history. The video features live footage from their recent show at Hellivare Festival in Northern Sweden together with animations from the original lyric video.
