David Judson Clemmons is an extraordinary artist who has continuously reinvented himself across various cult projects, each distinct from the other, always exploring new and captivating musical landscapes. His first solo album, "Life in the Kingdom of Agreement" (2004), marked a turning point, offering a more raw, dark, and personal expression than anything he had released before. In the years that followed, alongside his other projects, he continued to build his solo discography with "Un-Fi," "Cold White Earth," "Tribe & Throne," and "Lights for the Living."
Now, on March 28, 2025, Clemmons returns with his latest album, "Everything A War", a record that encapsulates over 40 years of his musical journey. This is an album that pulls listeners in, provokes thought, and inspires, seamlessly balancing darkness and beauty while taking us through deeply emotional and dynamic landscapes. With countless chill-inducing moments and intricate musical details, the album delivers an experience that is as introspective as it is powerful.
Currently residing in a small town just north of Berlin, Germany, Clemmons works as a full-time guitar teacher, an experience he describes as his greatest source of inspiration to date.
A Glimpse into the Album
- "Learn To Resist" opens with melancholic and dramatic strings (performed by Anne de Wolff), leading into a profound opening statement:
“What a time to be alive, what a time to die.” - "The Old World Is Gone" carries an irresistible Pink Floyd vibe, a hidden gem that stands out for its atmosphere and depth.
David Judson Clemmons on the Album:
"It is most important to me in my career to stay as close to my style as possible. Over the years, I’ve been constantly reminded that what I offer musically has nothing to do with mass popularity, and I take that as the highest compliment. I have no interest in considering popularity before integrity in my music."
"With Everything A War on the horizon, I’ve worked to completely free myself from the constraints of time and money. No matter how much society pressures me to move in certain directions or at certain speeds, I’ve promised myself to go at my own pace. For my work to have relevance, I must stay connected to the ‘soil’ and fill my music with a message of warmth."
"I remember being 13 years old, putting on headphones and listening to Styx or Queen, and feeling like I was exactly where I was supposed to be in that moment. I hope to pass that same feeling on to others."
"If Everything A War has a message, it’s about learning to trust your own instincts. The world has become a business, and business wants your money, your time, your thoughts—everything that fuels these empires. The album’s title isn’t just about war between armies; it reflects the daily battle for inner peace. If we can’t find harmony in our own communities, how can we expect peace on a global scale? I believe that if we could just slow down and appreciate what we have, things might finally start to get better."
"Everything A War" will appeal to fans of Muse, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, and Damn The Machine, delivering an atmospheric and reflective musical journey that reflects David's unique artistic vision.
"Everything A War" releases worldwide on March 28, 2025.
