Porcelain Shards, a Prague-based heavy metal band, released their sophomore album, Halcyon's Dream, on May 24, 2024.

This latest effort marks a significant evolution in the band’s sound, offering 42 minutes and 17 seconds of meticulously crafted music, 12 minutes longer than their debut album, Perfect Storm. Available on all major streaming platforms, including Bandcamp, Bandzone, and YouTube, the album continues to showcase the band’s ability to merge intricate musicality with powerful metal energy. For fans who prefer physical media, the CD version of the album will be available shortly, promising artwork that enhances the overall experience.

The album consists of ten tracks, with the first nine delivering intense rock-metal compositions, while the closing track, "Little Fox," ventures into softer indie rock territory, demonstrating the band’s versatility. Frontman Martin Schwarz shares that "Little Fox" is a deeply personal song, capturing themes of time’s passage and the existential questions that come with it. The song’s music video, directed by Lubomir Novohradsky and filmed in an atmospheric location in Prague, is now available on YouTube.

While "Little Fox" offers a poignant conclusion to the album, Halcyon's Dream is largely driven by its metal core. The band has made considerable strides in technical proficiency since their debut, with layered vocals, powerful double bass drumming, and dynamic guitar work. The mix and mastering, executed by Artem Efimov at Red Ghost Studio, tie the album together, elevating the overall sound.

The album’s metal tracks span various styles: "Rebars," "Halcyon's Dream," "Nature Of Man," "With Headphones," and "Constellations In Mud" lean towards heavy/power metal; "Wings Of Night" pays homage to classic stadium rock; "Voices" is influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM); and "Punk Princess" adds a pop-punk twist to the heavy sound. Each track is distinct yet cohesive, reflecting the band’s wide range of influences, from power metal to artists like Agalloch, Enter Shikari, Iron Maiden, and pop-punk staples such as The Offspring and Avril Lavigne.
