SINISTER DAYS, from France, will release the six track EP “Disconnect Society” on 20 October 2025.
Formed in 2013 in Nantes, SINISTER DAYS sharpen their blend of hardcore metal and black metal on the six track EP “Disconnect Society”. The record focuses on concrete, contemporary themes. “Clouds” and “No Care For Us” denounce modern economic exploitation and a sacrificed working class, with lines like “We starve while they feast, We die while they live”. “Shot” addresses male suicide through the lens of toxic masculinity and the pressure to remain silent. “Disconnect Society” examines mass surveillance and screen dependency, describing a digital panopticon where security is used to justify the loss of privacy. “The Darkest Order” dissects sect dynamics, initiation, sacrifice and submission. “Seeds of Despair” sketches an industrial and social apocalypse, where injustice sows the “seeds of despair” that lead to a metaphorical nuclear winter.
Across the EP the “Tree of Hate” operates as a central metaphor for a corrupted humanity that self destructs, linking black mysticism and apocalyptic symbolism. The writing uses minimalist, repetitive structures, with hammered refrains such as “Break these chains” and “We’re already dead”, and alternates between contemplative passages and sudden eruptions of rage to match the urgency of the message. The stance is openly militant, anti capitalist and carries an ecological thread, including images of “toxic snow”. In their own frame of reference, the band situate this work in a tradition of engaged metal that runs from Godflesh to Full of Hell, while speaking from a French context marked by precarity and post 2008 disillusion. On stage, SINISTER DAYS emphasise raw, uncompromising intensity.
