Active for 23 years, Voltron has quietly shaped their own place in the Berlin heavy music scene, describing their sound as “Doomcoreblutgrätsche” — a mix that’s always been raw, heavy, and unmistakably personal. Over the years, through records like Beyond An Armoured Skin, Kaventsmann, and Kollapsar, they’ve continued to evolve without losing sight of their roots.

"With The Slow Dying of Light", Voltron offers an album that feels more focused and direct, pulling back some of the prog elements of past releases in favor of something punchier and more immediate. There are even moments of rough-edged singalongs, surrounded by the band’s familiar heaviness.

Many of the songs wrestle with themes of loss and mortality, shaped by frontman Mars Brennen’s near-death experience, the pandemic, and the passing of close friends. For Voltron, making music through it all wasn’t really a choice — it was the only way forward.
