Back in 1995, Frank Nordmann founded ASARU – one of the first Black Metal bands in Southern Hesse and, to this day, one of the longest-standing acts in the German Black Metal scene. From the very beginning, ASARU has stood for uncompromising Black Metal, deeply rooted in the Norwegian tradition, yet always marked by a distinctive and original signature.

ASARU’s vision was clear from the start: to shape their own interpretation of Black Metal – far removed from scene conventions and without the need to please anyone but themselves. The result is a multifaceted, consistently independent body of work that has helped shape German Black Metal for decades: at times epic, at times tinged with thrash, always full of ideas but never overindulgent – and above all, absolutely authentic.

Over nearly three decades, the band has gone through numerous lineup changes. Yet one constant has remained: Frank Nordmann, the driving force behind ASARU, who has led the band with unwavering passion and remained true to the cold spirit of Black Metal.

Following two demos, a mini-CD, and the acclaimed second full-length "From the Chasm of Oblivion" (2012), ASARU now return after more than a decade of silence – with brand-new material and a refined artistic vision.

The first glimpse into the upcoming album V.O.I.D. comes with the single “Raise the Flame” – a powerful track themed around the element of fire, which both gives life and consumes it. The accompanying music video already hints at the album’s conceptual depth, exploring not only the four elements but also their eternal counterparts: humanity, religion, war, and downfall.

The new album V.O.I.D. will be released in 2025 via Schwarzdorn Production – digitally, as a deluxe digipak CD, and as a strictly limited vinyl edition.

ASARU is back – stronger, darker, and more intense than ever.
