The song tells the story of a soldier who comes to understand that neither country, nor nation, nor history will remember the blood he gives. Told through the voice of a dark children’s rhyme that counts bullets like brothers, it reflects the emptiness of sacrifice when nothing is left but silence.

Musically, “Shame” shows the band at their heaviest. With lower guitar tunings and an even stronger blackened edge, the track feels darker and more oppressive than their earlier work.
