Melbourne death metal trio Circle Of Blood step forward with their debut full-length In Praise Of Darkness, out now via Grindhead Records. Built around themes of cult ritual, black magic, witch trials, and the rejection of false divinity, the album moves as a conceptual descent through fear, faith, and power, where each song adds another layer to its oppressive atmosphere.

Rooted in old school death metal and openly worshipping the classic Sunlight and Morrissound traditions, the band brings together the buzzsaw violence of early Swedish extremity with the dense low-end force of Florida’s golden era. The result is a heavy, direct record driven by crushing riffs, cavernous vocals, and drums that hit with relentless purpose. The production stays thick and punishing throughout, preserving the spirit of early 90s death metal while keeping enough weight and clarity to land with modern impact.

The album’s first single, "Immolation", introduced that approach a few weeks ahead of release, opening the campaign with a ritualistic piece that set the tone for the full record. Across the ten tracks, In Praise Of Darkness keeps its focus firmly on underground death metal tradition, with no detours from the sound and atmosphere the band set out to achieve.
