OUT NOW: UK melodic/atmospheric black metallers Inquinamentum return after eight years with new album "Abyssal"

UK melodic/atmospheric black metal band Inquinamentum released their new album "Abyssal" on October 30th, 2026. The self-released record is available digitally and on CD.

Formed in Leeds in 2012 by Reuben Chadwick and Chris Fayers, Inquinamentum began with the aim of writing black metal with an atmospheric and depressive edge. Their debut album, "Lustrum", arrived in 2012, followed by "Luminescence" in 2013.

For 2015's "Void", the band expanded their sound through strings, choirs and orchestration, working with Nathan Marshall on the arrangements. "8342" followed in 2018, continuing those orchestral elements while pushing the music in a darker and more refined direction.

Eight years after that release, Inquinamentum return with "Abyssal". The nine-track album moves back towards the band's original raw and stripped-back sound, while exploring themes of madness, loss and grief.

The current line-up brings founding guitarists Reuben Chadwick and Chris Fayers together with vocalist Thomas Blanc and bassist Nathan Marshall.
