[news] Azores & Metal Vol. #4": A Historic Vinyl Release Celebrating the Azorean Metal Scene

The Azorean metal scene (Portugal) celebrates another milestone with the release of Azores & Metal Vol. #4, presented by the Museu Heavy Metal Açoriano (MHMA). This long-awaited compilation features songs created during 2023 and 2024 and marks the first time such a collection is being released on vinyl.

This historic release in the iconic LP format brings a new dimension to the music, offering a richer experience for collectors and metal enthusiasts. For the MHMA, it’s a moment of pride to introduce the first vinyl record that documents the heavy metal produced across the Azores.

This compilation gathers some of the best metal from the nine islands, with contributions from bands such as Rhεûmα, Profeta Morbus, and Carnification. It also includes new tracks from well-established names like Damage Device, Mournolith Abyss, Dust Project, Finding Sanity, Crossfaith, The Absolute End, and In Peccatum.

Adding to the diversity, the compilation features Aemaerth, a project led by an Azorean from Terceira now living in Colombia, alongside M1ke, an artist based in Spain who returns for this edition. Kevin Douglas, a Brazilian residing in São Miguel, also adds his voice to the lineup, showcasing the wide reach of Azorean metal.

With its diverse and well-curated tracklist, Azores & Metal Vol. #4 is an essential piece for any fan or collector of national heavy metal. This album is more than a simple collection of tracks—it embodies the distinct spirit of the Azorean underground metal scene. It’s a rallying cry for emerging bands to persevere and thrive, even in the face of adversity. By committing this music to vinyl, the project ensures the longevity of these bands’ work, transcending the fleeting nature of digital platforms.

This release places the Azores among a select few regions worldwide that have immortalized their metal scene on vinyl—a historic achievement that underlines the growth and maturity of the local underground scene.
